Youfu

Youfu Ishigaki (癒布 — "Healing Cloth") is a handcrafted apparel brand based on Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, specialising in natural-dyed clothing made from skin-friendly materials. The name reflects their philosophy: fabric that heals just by wearing it.
Their product line includes:
- Plant-dyed items using Getto (shell ginger / Alpinia zerumbet), a native Ishigaki plant
- Semi-custom organic cotton garments
- High-quality linen clothing
- Gara-bosen (traditional Japanese slow-spun) towels
Every item is handmade with care by founder Naomi Takahashi.
Takahashi graduated in Clothing Science from Bunka Women's University, worked as a women's apparel pattern maker at a major manufacturer, and later gained experience at semi-order boutiques and wedding dress ateliers. She opened a sewing school in Tokyo in 2007, then moved to Ishigaki Island in 2013, launching Youfu as both a webshop and an online sewing school.
Her sewing instruction is notably inclusive — from bridal wear, baby items, kindergarten bags, and pet clothes to yukata alterations — and she has taught at elderly care facilities and disability support centres as well.
